An inspiring speech about the ‘Power of Music’:
Music makes people share emotions, intentions and meanings. Music is a way of communicating and this ‘language’ exists over 100,0000 years. Music has been, and still is, very important for human evolution.
The last 20 years I worked with hundreds of the biggest international brands and this taught me that every organisation has its own sound and that music is part of our identities. Personal and corporate.
There are many areas where we can use our musical brain, including health, arts, communication, learning, bonding people and it always heavily affects our emotions and behaviour. Humans are hardwired to seek art, and there are very few things that engage the brain on the level that music does. To understand the neural basis of creativity teaches us something fundamental about who we are and why we’re here.
Plato explained that “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything else.”
But it’s even more now science proves music is fundamental in our survival and can be instrumental in helping Alzheimer, Parkinson and stroke patients.
My goal in life is to make the world a better place and art and music are my tools. My chosen place of work is where people spend most of their time; the companies and organisations they work at.

Music for the brain
Working with health organizations to find ways how music can help Alzheimer, stroke and Parkison patients. Currently building a new instrument that by ‘improvising musically’ can give patients a more robust brain structure, better cognitive functioning and improve motor movement.
On this pic you see icon of brain and music Prof. Dr. Erik Scherder. Whenever we work together magic happens!
“If music was a drug, it would be marketable. […] Music is a noninvasive, safe, cheap intervention that should be available to everyone undergoing surgery.” – Dr.Catherine Meads
“Music is a social glue that gives you a better well being” – Dr. Alan Harvey
“Cuts on music eduction are the work of idiots” – Neuropsychologist Erik Scherder
Music has a big impact on our immune system: a musical emotional peak gives us ‘Dopamine’, which makes us physically happy and more empathic. Our bodies give us ‘Oxytocin’ when we sing and when we improvise on music. This helps us build better relationships and have less pain.
Music is an effective therapy. Language is an inividual thing: one talks and the other listens. But music binds and connects people; you do it together, play together, listen together. It gives energy and helps us work, together.
“Music is evolutions way of connecting people” – Erwin Steijlen
Science and the medical world are only just exploring what music can do for our health and it’s very exciting to be part of this. Music rocks, music heals, music communicates and music connects… people!
At my performances…
I’ll dive deep into the way our brain works and why we all have a musical brain, with my “Music First” method I show organisations how music can get them get happier staff, more sales, more loyal clients and fans. We’ll see amazing research on the healing powers of music for brain diseases and you’ll witness a live composition from its first note untill the fully recorded endresult.
“I can promise a highly educating, inspiring ánd entertaining happening” – Erwin
